On a recent tour of MSC Preziosa, we spent time in the impressive kid’s clubs. On Deck 15 you find the Baby Club (for under 3s), the Mini Club (3-6) and the Juniors Club (7-11). MSC Cruises is a family owned and focused cruise line. This is shown by the level of attention given to entertaining children and supporting parents – which ultimately results in a fantastic cruise holiday!
Travelling with a young baby is no easy task. A baby usually travels with a lot of equipment and ‘stuff’, making planning and travelling stressful. MSC has partnered with the baby brand Chicco to help ease this. Subject to availability you can borrow Chicco baby products during your cruise. These items include bottle warmers, bouncers, backpacks, strollers and cribs; the bulky items that you need but that take up so much luggage space.
Every restaurant and buffet on board has high chairs available. Baby food can be warmed on request by a waiter. For toddlers and children, there is a dedicated Kids’ Corner in the buffet (deck 14) serving various tasty, healthy dishes. The children’s menus are created alongside the Osservatorio Chicco Baby Research Center and they cater for allergies and other special dietary needs. Using the 24-hour room service, you can ask for warm milk to be brought direct to your cabin.
Oh, and ice cream and snacks can be found around the clock (well, 20 hours a day) in the buffet!
In the shopping mall you’ll find a Chicco Corner where you can buy baby essentials, such as nappies. And you’ll find changing tables in various locations around the ship – so no need to return to your stateroom.
While on your cruise you might want a short time to yourself, to relax, to chill out, to visit the spa for a massage etc. On sea days, children aged 1 to 3 can be left with the Youth Staff between 1-2pm and 6-7pm.
Three times a day, under 3s can attend (with a parent) a Baby Time session.
These take place in the Baby/Mini Club and run from 9-11am, 4-6pm and 8-9pm. During the BabyTime sessions you will find a range of age-appropriate Chicco toys and fun activities like exploring sound and music to bilingual games.
Safety on board
All children under 12 wear an ID wristband during their cruise holiday. This is worn at all times. Pagers or Deck Phones can be hired so you can be contacted wherever you are on the ship. Kids’ clubs are supervised by experienced childcare personnel, recruited via CLIA-approved procedures and able to work with children of all nationalities.
The pool area is NOT supervised – so adult supervision is required at all times here. Running, jumping and diving is not allowed. Babies in nappies are not allowed in the water.
In collaboration with the LEGO Group, MSC offers a ‘LEGO experience’ where families have a whole day on every cruise itinerary dedicated to LEGO activities. For children under 3 this includes the DUPLO Play Pen: a construction challenge!
At the end of the day, children graduate with a LEGO diploma and receive a souvenir certificate by the LEGO sailor mascot 🙂
There are other opportunities to play LEGO on each cruise. The Baby Club has a LEGO DUPLO themed soft play area.
