The Uncle Bubble Mega Loop Review (and a Giveaway!)

Bubbles. What is it about bubbles that excites even the most serious of teenagers? As toddlers and children, Millie-Mae and Toby loved bubbles. I’ve lost count of the number of different wands they’ve had over the years – and all those bubble machine demands for birthday discos! Bubbles, clearly, are cool . So, when we were given an opportunity to play with an Uncle Bubble Mega Loop we said yes with no hesitation.

What is the Uncle Bubble Mega Loop?

The Uncle Bubble Mega Loop, according to the images on the box, let you make huge bubbles so large that you can stand inside bubble ‘columns’. I was a little sceptical of this, but was ready to be proved wrong! The toy was actually a substantial piece of kit.

The box contains:

• bottle of their concentrated bubble mixture
• inflatable ring ‘dish’
• large bubble wand
• instructions booklet

How do you set it up?

Once you’ve unpacked the box, you need to follow the instructions. These were to mix up the bubble mixture to a ratio of 1:3; it’s important to measure carefully.

Step 2 is to inflate the dish – there are two non-return valves that inflate the walls of the dish. It doesn’t require much puff!

And then you need to assemble the wand, and this can be a bit tricky. You have to push the two ends of the circular tube onto the ends of the handle, securing them with two twist nuts. My first two attempts had the handle at the wrong angle, so I had to keep taking it apart! That’s just me – I’m sure you’ll be fine!

Finally, you fill the inflated dish half-full with the diluted bubble mixture – and you are ready to play!

How easy is it to use?

Doesn’t this look brilliant! Looks easy doesn’t it? I have to confess, we couldn’t get it to work quite like the video. We did make some large bubbles, but the day we played with it there was a strong breeze and it kept bursting the bubbles ☹

We did have lots of fun trying to encapsulate ourselves inside a bubble tube, but the highest we reached were our waistlines before the bubbles popped. I probably didn’t measure the mixture as accurately as I should have; and that combined with the breezy weather meant that we were up against it somewhat.

But … the children kept trying (and with their short attention span, this was rather unusual). So they definitely enjoyed it.

What’s the children’s verdict?

Toby was definitely a huge fan. He helped me assemble the wand, when I was clearly failing on my own! And he was the impatient one that wanted to have the first go. And after Millie-Mae and myself had a go, he was still playing with it after we’d gone back into the house. He still loves bubbles! He kept trying different manoeuvres to see if it made the bubbles bigger, and in fairness to him he achieved the best bubbles.

We may not have totally enclosed ourselves in a bubble tube, but it didn’t distract from the fun. Huw will mix the bubble liquid next time – and I’m sure Toby will master the whole body bubble!
