When we moved into our newly renovated home last year one thing I didn’t want to …
Skippy Peanut Butter
Pretzels dipped in Skippy Peanut Butter – what a taste sensation!
As a household, we are peanut butter fiends … as soon a jar gets opened it’s gone within days (if not sooner). So when we received a lovely box containing two jars of Skippy Peanut Butter, a bag of pretzels (for dipping) and a branded spreader, we didn’t hang around before we dived in!
Now, even though I consider myself a minor peanut butter connoisseur, I have to confess that I hadn’t heard of the Skippy brand before. Having done a little research I discovered that Skippy is a US brand first sold in 1932 and is the market-leading peanut butter brand in China: it’s also ranked second in the world, beaten only by the JM Smucker Company’s Jif. Ok, having not heard of Jif either, I’ll admit that my peanut butter knowledge is clearly not as comprehensive as I first thought!
Anyway, back to our review of Skippy. We were sent a jar of Smooth and a jar of Extra Crunchy SuperCrunch. We’re used to eating peanut butter in sandwiches or on toast, but as we were sent a bag of pretzels it seemed wrong to not use them for dipping! We waited until Friday evening, and during a family ‘film night’ we all dug in … and what a taste sensation it was! The peanut butter was really creamy and really nutty. Compared to our ‘usual’ brand, it tasted more ‘Finest’ than standard (if you know what I mean) … It tasted like a premium product, which of course it is! As a family our preference was split down the middle with me and my daughter favouring the smooth Skippy while my son and husband preferred the crunchy one. What we did agree on though, is that is pretzels and peanut butter really do go together, and that Skippy is a brand that we’ll most definitely look out for in the shops from now on.
If you spot any jars of Skippy peanut butter while on your next food shop, give it a go. You’ll really like it, I’m certain of that. It’s definitely up there with some of the best peanut butter we’ve ever had. Oh and don’t forget to get a bag of pretzels too …
