Del Monte Squeezie: Made with 100% Fruit
Del Monte Squeezie are made with 100% fruit. They are ideal for healthy desserts and snacks as they contain no added sugars and no preservatives.
Del Monte Squeezie are made with 100% fruit. They are ideal for healthy desserts and snacks as they contain no added sugars (only natural ones in the fruit) and no preservatives. Each pouch (perfectly sized for packed lunch boxes) features an image of Mickey or Minnie Mouse to add an element of fun for the children. The pouch cap is ‘stackable’ too so a child can collect them (different coloured caps on each flavour option) and can build structures once enough have been amassed. The pouch also gives details of a digital app that provides nutritional information and family-focussed games.
Del Monte Squeezie, aimed at 3-9 year olds, are available in the following flavours:
- Apple and mango
- Apple and pear
- Apple, banana, strawberry
- Apple, pear, banana, peach
- Apple, strawberry, blueberry
The good news for parents is that one Squeezie pouch counts as one of the five recommended daily portions of fruit and vegetables.
My children loved the Squeezie. At the weekend I made them a ‘picnic lunch’ as this is their favourite type of meal. Instead of a piece of fruit, I gave them one of the Squeezie pouches each to try. They really enjoyed them – so much so they raided the fridge for the other flavours to try them too! My 8 year old son was particularly impressed by them – as was I as I struggle to get fruit into him at the best of times!
The packaging is a little childish for my 10 year old daughter, but these Squeezie are meant more so for younger children. However, she did really enjoy the contents, so maybe Del Monte are missing a trick and should offer alternative ‘older children’ packaging as I often struggle to think of healthy things to pack in her lunch box (that she’ll like)?
My son too, has somewhat outgrown Mickey Mouse (and he was reluctant to try the ones with Minnie Mouse on, because ‘they are for girls’) …so again, perhaps the packaging best suits much younger children around the 3-5 years age group. Yet he really enjoyed the contents too – so I think there’s a definite market for ‘older children’ packaging, as I know he’d love to find these in his lunch box – assuming they didn’t look ‘babyish’.
Overall, Squeezie were a definite hit with my two children. They liked all the flavours equally, but their initial choices were clearly guided by the colour and character of the pouches as opposed to the fruit combinations within them. For younger children, I think these will be a huge kit. For older children like mine – they will need more grown up (but still fun) packaging.
Squeezie can be purchased, in the UK, in ASDA stores.
