OK, it could well drive mummy and daddy to distraction, but it is good practice for when they start playing drums or violin in later years!

The giraffe-themed BoiKido Xylophone has a satisfying weight to it and I think this gives it a feel of quality. You don’t get this with some of the plastic versions I have come across. With this in mind, it’s sufficiently durable to be passed down to a younger sibling when required.

This would make a great gift for babies celebrating their second Christmas this year. The multi-coloured keys and large chunky bashing sticks will draw a toddler towards it, because it’s irresistible! It’s never too early to introduce a child to music. My daughter had all the instruments and shakers as a baby and started ‘baby music’ classes when she was 6 months old. She’s now 10 and has the most amazing singing voice, and a natural affinity for rhythm and tone. I believe her love of music began all those years ago, before she could even speak. She loved making the loudest possible noise she could with her first musical instruments. Yes it drove us to distraction … but she’s just started to play the guitar and I feel her early years were good practice, for us, to manage what is yet to come!
