KidzCruises was recently invited to view the kids clubs on Emerald Princess. This family-friendly ship has three clubs for children and teens, spanning the ages 3-17. The clubs, all on Deck 17, are called Pelicans (for 3-7 year olds), Shockwaves (for 8-12 year olds) and Remix (13-17). Each club deserves its own post, and this one is specifically about Pelicans, and what is on offer for people travelling with babies and children up to 7 years old.
Children wishing to visit Princess Pelicans need to be 3 years of age; however under 3’s can visit too so long as a parent stays with them to supervise. The over 3’s staying for a session/activity must be potty trained.
There is a busy range of exciting activities offered to Pelican children. This includes arts and crafts projects, cartoons and movies, disco nights, ice cream and pizza parties – as well as the ubiquitous pyjama parties! In their club room we saw child-size bathrooms, a small climbing wall, a soft play climbing frame, a Lego table, a puppet theatre, lots of soft cushions and beanbags, tables with built-in game boards and a row of monitors linked to Nintendo Wii and Playstation.
Just outside the Pelicans/Shockwaves clubs there is a small outdoor area with a splash pool.
Princess Pelicans is open for morning activities between 9am and 12 noon. Afternoon sessions run between 1pm and 5pm and evening activities take place between 6pm and 10pm. A group childsitting service is available for children over 3 years old for between 10pm and 1am; there is a surcharge for this. Full-day supervision is also available for port days.
