As readers of PackThePJs will know, we love Hape toys. We’ve been championing them since the blog started, and our children have grown up playing with them. As they are older now, we’ve had to call on the expert opinion of our 3-year-old neighbour to test out Hape’s Battery Powered Engine Set. Hape Battery Powered Engine
This is a great gift for any transport/train-loving child. It arrives in a substantial, sturdy, colourful box. Inside there’s 10 pieces of wooden track, 1 battery-powered engine, 2 cargo wagons, 1 wooden crane and 2 trees. Suitable for ages 3 years and above, the wooden engine pulls the cargo to the magnetic crane, which then lifts the cargo off the wagon.
The track is compatible will all other Hape wooden train track, so you can add this to existing kit to make a more complex layout. The engine, wagons, crane and trees encourage play by being brightly coloured. It’s built to last. Hape toys are tough enough to cope with the rigour of young children at play!
Sustainability
Hape is the world’s largest producer of sustainable wooden and bamboo toys. They source their wood from Germany, Belgium and Russia. Although made in China, the German-based company own and run the manufacturing plant. All toys are tested to European and UK standards. They use non-toxic paints. Their Chinese factory is a short distance from a major sea port, where the natural materials arrive and toys depart from.
Hape are funding and building an Early Childhood Education Center and Environmental Development Facility in China.
