Review: Ravensburger Puzzle “Flower Fairies” 500 pieces

PackThePJs was sent a beautiful puzzle to build. This Ravensburger puzzle has a beautiful flower fairies image with a lovely poem. The puzzle has 500 pieces, so it wasn’t going to be finished in minutes!

My daughter, who is 10, loves puzzles. When it arrived my mum was very poorly so we decided to wait until she was home from hospital to help us build it. Unfortunately, life backfired and she never came home, so the puzzle was put aside for a while 🙁 This week, during a school hols ‘quiet day’ we decided to drink milkshakes, eat biscuits, and make the puzzle while listening to the radio.

It was a collective effort: my daughter, my 8-year-old son, and myself. We build the outside frame first, then looked for ‘obvious’ bits – like the poem or the bright yellow flowers. It was truly difficult!

The poem is a lovely one. It reads:

SPRING GOES, SUMMER COMES

The little darling, Spring,
Has run away;
The sunshine grew too hot for her to stay.

She kissed her sister, Summer,
And she said:
“When I am gone, you must be queen instead.”

Now reigns the lady Summer,
Round whose feet
A thousand fairies flock with blossoms sweet.

The puzzle took, in total, 3 days to build. In terms of concentrated hours – probably 5 to 6. It’s one of those projects you do a little, then walk away from, then come back to. But the finished item is so nice.

Ravensburger make high quality puzzles. This one is no exception and it even has ‘softclick’ technology.

In total this puzzle, when completed, measured approximately 49 x 36 cm. The design, Butterfly Haven, is owned by The Estate of Cicely Mary Barker. Beautiful puzzle, which was a joy to make.
