Travel Etch A Sketch

I don’t want to show my age – but how I loved my Etch A Sketch when I was a child! Mildly frustrating at times, when you’d spent AGES on a complex design, only to to accidentally scroll up instead of down rendering the masterpiece error-ridden! Oh for an ‘undo’ button back in those days! When KidzCruises had the opportunity to try out a new ‘mini’ (travel) Etch A Sketch, I couldn’t wait to try it out (oh yes, and my children too).

The good news is that it hasn’t changed a bit! It’s a smaller version of the Etch A Sketch I remember, so I was really keen to find out what my (super-techie) children thought of it. I chose a nice long car journey to introduce them to it, and I have to say, for a good 20 minutes there was no bickering in the back of the car (trust me, that’s unheard of). My 7 year old son especially really loved it … We even got a few “Aargh! Oh no, I’ve gone wrong, I have to start AGAIN” along the way. Ah the fond memories 🙂

The good thing about this compact version is that you can pop it into a carry-on bag or backpack for long journey distractions. I ended up walking around town with it in my handbag, as my son insisted on taking it in case we stopped for a coffee in a cafe (he knows me too well …)

Not on purpose but we’ve dropped the Etch A Sketch a few times – it’s a tough bit of kit – I don’t want to say indestructible, but it’s close.

Oh, one HUGE plus for the Etch A Sketch … it doesn’t make a noise. It doesn’t need charging, nor batteries. How wonderful is that 🙂
