X-Power Plus Power Bank and Speaker Stand by XDREAM

A portable power bank is invaluable. I play Pokemon Go. There, I’ve said it. My daughter and my husband do too … and wow, does that game drain your phone battery. You’ll be lucky to get more than an hour’s worth of playing time in from a full charge of my iPhone 6S. My daughter’s iPhone 5S is equally poor, and the same for Huw’s Samsung S6. So when we plan a day in a city, for example (where lots of good and different Pokemon can be found), we make sure we each take a portable power bank along – because we’ll need it. For this reason I jumped and said ‘Yes Please’ when offered an X-Power Plus power bank and speaker stand by XDREAM to review.

The device is aesthetically pleasing on the eye as its outer cover is brushed aluminium and the speaker and socket plate are a complimentary lime green (blue and orange also available). This power bank has a built in original Samsung lithium-ion battery that holds 3000 mAh. It has a USB plug which makes it compatible with all devices that are powered via a USB power lead. The USB socket is accessed by a ‘lift and twist’ motion at the top of the power bank. Here you will also find a 3.5mm universal audio jack. There is also a black fabric pouch included to protect the power bank while out and about.

Obviously to use the X-Power Plus power bank and speaker stand while ‘on the go’ you must remember to take your charging cable along with you. Unfortunately there isn’t room inside the protective sheath to accommodate the cable too, which would have been a useful touch to keep everything together.

is a good size that fits neatly into a ‘normal-sized’ handbag. It charges your device very quickly, and I found I could get one full charge of my iPhone 6S from the fully-charged power bank. This is brilliant when needed to just ‘top up’, but for longer Pokemon ‘sessions’ I’d be more confident with a larger capacity power bank (even though it would be bulkier to transport). On an evening out in Central London the power bank performed really well and quickly topped up my phone while my family sat and ate in a restaurant.

To use the X-Power Plus as a speaker, simply lift and twist the end to expose the 3.5mm audio jack and plug this into your phone. Then access your music files and enjoy up to 15 hours of playback time! The speaker has a rear acoustic port for deep bass, and there’s very little – if any – sound distortion. Because of the location of the audio jack you are able to prop the phone up against the power bank. It’s great for use on a beach or in a hotel room. The speaker is definitely a nice additional feature.

Overall this is a good looking, robust 3000 mAh Samsung lithium-ion, power bank and speaker, which is very portable and great for when you are travelling.
