Earlier this week I was invited to attend a medical advisory board meeting in Lyon, France. Medical writing is my main income source; this short trip was to make notes to produce a top secret report! I was accompanied by a PR representative who arranged, in advance, our flights with BA and transfers with Blacklane.
We flew into Lyon Saint Exupéry airport on a scheduled British Airways flight from London Heathrow. It was a very comfortable, pleasant and quite short flight. However, I noted that EasyJet also fly direct from London Luton – my preferred airport as I live close by.
Transfers
We were met in arrivals by our driver, booked by my travelling companion pre-trip via the Blacklane website. We were quickly transferred to the waiting car, a beautiful E-Class Mercedes Benz. In no time at all we were at our destination. My colleague checked that the driver had our return flight details, in order to collect us to return to the airport – and we bid him farewell. It was a stress-free transfer, and as a result we arrived fresh and ready to attend our meeting.
The meeting was very technical and detailed, and as these meetings usually do it threatened to overrun. During an afternoon break my colleague used the Blacklane app to alert our driver to a possible dash to the airport to catch our flight home.
When business had been concluded (later than planned) we headed outside – and our driver was waiting for us. Same lovely car! We arrived at the airport with just enough time to grab a coffee before we were called to our gate.
I’ve never used Blacklane before, but my colleague told me he uses the company a lot (all over the world) – especially because of the ease of using their app and their ongoing reliability. He told me that, when they have time to spare, they book the driver for a chunk of time in order to do a drive-by city highlights tour. This is a great idea, as I felt it was a shame to travel all the way to Lyon yet only see the four walls of the meeting room!
I definitely recommend Blacklane – you can check them out here
