Looking out the window at all the snow, I decided to write about something warm today! I’ve seen far too much snowman and not enough tropical paradise. So, this post is about the fun we had playing Giant Inflatable Pass the Pigs, in our own pool, at Kandima resort in the Maldives. For the next hour or so I am going to transport myself back to those glorious hot days in August – call it therapy!
Pass the Pigs
I don’t know how long the game Pass the Pigs has been around, but it’s well over 30 years – because I have the original set! I bought it when I was a teenager; at the age when saying ‘making bacon’ was embarrassing in front of family! As someone who loves travel, long before the PackThePJs blog came into being, I always packed a few travel games on my adventures, and Pass the Pigs has always been a favourite. The two little piggies in my set have travelled many thousands of miles over the years!
Object of Pass the Pigs
Pass the Pigs is a very simple game. Anyone can play – of all ages. You have two little pigs and a score sheet. You shake the pigs like you do a dice and throw them onto the table top. The way they land determines how many points you win. If both pigs land the same way, you get double points, but there’s different points for levels of difficulty. The ultimate ‘landing’ is when a pig lands on top of the other one … the infamous ‘piggyback’ (this is so uncommon that if you achieve it, you are out!) If the piggies are touching, they are ‘making bacon’ and your score returns to zero. Leaning Jowler, Razorback, Snouter – all moves you can score with. The winner is the first to reach 100.
Giant Inflatable Pass the Pigs
Knowing we were going to the Maldives, and knowing we would have our own pool, I researched some inflatables to take for us all to play with. And then I came across Giant Inflatable Pass the Pigs – exactly the same game as the small travel one, but this one is much larger.
We had hours and hours of fun playing it. Of course, you don’t need a pool – you don’t even need water. You can play on the beach, in your garden, in your living room, wherever. But I thoroughly recommend an infinity pool in the Maldives!
Obviously when deflated it takes up no room whatsoever in your suitcase, so this will now be travelling with us on our next tropical adventures!
Pass the Pigs, now manufactured by Winning Moves – whether the regular travel game or this Giant Inflatable one – is timeless fun. I laugh as much now playing it as I did when I was 14.
