On a recent visit to Hemsby, Norfolk, the children were desperate to play The Lost World Adventure mini golf. This is located on Beach Road, just a quick 5 minute walk from our campsite at Long Beach Camping and Touring Site.
Lost World Adventure Golf is a nine hole ‘Jurassic World/Indiana Jones’-like challenging mini golf. It even has water hazards. It is very reasonably priced at £3.00 per adult, £2.50 for children, or £9.00 for a family. This includes the putter and a coloured ball of your choice.
We took it in turns to try and hole our ball in as few shots as we could. Some holes were quite straightforward, while others were really frustrating! Hole 3, the ‘Raptor Pit’ was one of the awkward holes. You had to negotiate a bend and an arch. Let’s just say I didn’t get close to the 3 Par with that hole!
Hole 4, ‘Temple Falls’ is a two-level challenge. You first have to negotiate through some poles with skulls on and then pot the ball. This wasn’t too difficult, but the hole wasn’t over as the ball popped out on a green the other side of the water fall!
Hole 5, ‘The Boneyard’, was our easiest hole. A par 2 that we all actually managed to do in two shots – result 🙂
Devil’s Drop, hole 6, was our favourite. There’s a water hazard here – so much so that they have provided a net for you to fish your ball out of the lake! We didn’t need the net 🙂
The last hole (9), ‘Journey’s End’, was very effective as you have to steer your ball through a dinosaur ribcage …
We had a great – though highly competitive – time. Toby has been having weekly golf lessons for nearly 4 years; you think he’s good at mini-golf? Nope! Millie-Mae won, with a respectable score of 30 (6 over par); I came second with 37 (+13), and then Toby with 43 (+19).
Toby wasn’t happy and he’s eager to challenge us again, as it was clearly “a bad day”. I’m sure he’ll get the chance. At the end of the game, when you hand the putters back, your score card gets stamped. If we visit two more times – which I’m sure we will – we will then get a free game for two players.
The Lost World golf experience takes about half an hour, maybe a little longer if there are players in front of you. I think this is an ideal length as it keeps a child’s interest from start to finish. The ‘lost world’ features were cool too – especially the dinosaurs! If you are in Hemsby over the summer, definitely have a game. It’s fun!
