The Camp Ocean children’s club has established an excellent relationship with Dr Seuss: ‘Seuss at Sea’ is a children’s activity program that involves Dr Seuss stories, characters, parades and even a themed breakfast (see separate post). Part of this collaboration involves a fantastic book club tucked just inside the Camp Ocean reception area called Bookville.
This area provides a colourful themed library for all Dr Seuss fans with wall paintings of Dr Seuss characters, whimsical comfortable furniture (including a fantastic ‘hand sofa’ and easy sitting areas) as well as multiple copies of every Dr Seuss book ever written.
Parents can spend hours with their kids in this area reading and learning from the Dr Seuss series.
Bookville is currently available only on Carnival Vista and Carnival Freedom. The books cannot leave Bookville; they cannot be borrowed and taken back to your state room … if you try to take a book past the security of Camp Ocean you will receive a polite electronic reminder that the book should remain to be enjoyed by everyone and not borrowed!
Bookville is free to use. In addition there’s a weekly ‘Seuss-a-Palooza Parade’ that leads to an interactive fun story time event on stage with the Dr Seuss characters.
Another ‘must do’ is the ‘Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast’, which has a small additional cost, but is a definite highlight for anyone (adults and kids) who takes a cruise on Carnival Vista or Carnival Freedom.
