Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Class ships (Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas) have introduced a brilliant new entertainment concept. With every new cruise ship seeking to better the previous one RCI decided that they needed a way to future proof their facilities and provide an area that could potentially be used for a multitude of purposes. Introducing ‘SeaPlex’, currently the newest and largest multipurpose indoor active sports and entertainment space at sea.
SeaPlex on Ovation of the Seas
Situated on Deck 15 SeaPlex is a two-storey space with the second level balcony populated by a variety of attractions such as table tennis, video games, air hockey, and even a purpose-built Xbox Lounge.

The main SeaPlex space is an arena the same size as a regulation basketball court that is used for dodgeball, volleyball, basketball, circus trapeze training, disco roller skating and dodgems (bumper cars).

The dodgems are a big attraction and are able to run with special battery powered vehicles several times during the day in amongst the busy SeaPlex schedule.

A typical day might start with the circus trapeze training school for teenagers, continue into basketball or volleyball matches, interspersed with dodgems and finally end with disco roller skating with full lights, music and a mechanical arm that raises the DJ booth above the revelry to observe the fun and change the music accordingly!

The court area is surrounded by a PVC wall and a number of seating areas to allow spectators to watch all the activity in perfect safety while munching on a gourmet hotdog from the SeaPlex’s very own Dog House. The hotdogs and sausages sourced from around the world have names like “The Smokehouse”, “The Coney Island” and “The Big Apple”.

When all is said and done the SeaPlex is a fabulous large space that can host a huge array of events and it is never empty … there’s always something going on! A truly amazing multipurpose space.
