We (well the children) were recently sent some ZURU Bunch O Balloons water balloons and a soaker gun to try out. Luckily, we had a mini-heatwave weekend, and it ended up being just what the doctor ordered! There’s nothing like a good old-fashioned water fight to help cool down, and to elicit some belly laughs. And, as we found out, big kids like playing around in water too …
What is ZURU Bunch O Balloons?
What is the most frustrating part of planning a water fight? Surely, it’s the time it takes to individually fill and tie each balloon once filled with water. Only the really determined carry on filling after 4-5 balloons. But what if you could fill 100 in under 1 minute? And there’s no tying? Well, this is what ZURU Bunch O Balloons is – a ‘fill once, get 100’ ready-to-throw water balloons.
How it Works
A Bunch O Balloons consists of 100 tiny (biodegradable) water balloons each attached to a thin straw. The straws all meet at the top, and they can be connected directly to a tap or hose. Once connected, you slowly turn on the tap and all 100 balloons will start to fill with water.
NB: It’s a very good idea to do this over a bucket.
Once the balloons reach a certain size, they slide off the straws and into whatever container you’ve got. Tiny biodegradable rubber bands seal the balloons as they detach from the straws. In no time at all you have a bucket FULL of ready-to-throw water balloons.
The Filler/Soaker Gun
We also received a Filler/Soaker gun – this can be used independently of the balloons if you want to. Or you can fill the reservoir with water and instead of shooting it out, you can attach balloons and fill them instead. Toby found this a less effective way of filling up the balloons as his experience was that the balloons fell off the straws before they had enough water in. It was also slower. It DOES work, but not as well as direct from a tap/hose. He much preferred playing with it as a standalone soaker!
Ooh I should mention that we were also sent a (much needed!) towel.
Our Experience
The first ‘wow’ moment came when 100 water-filled balloons fell into the bucket (I don’t think they expected it to work!) And then the throwing started … initially it was quite tentative …
But after a while, it started to get a lot more serious, with balloons thrown with increasing force and accuracy! More often than not the balloons exploded mid-air – that’s how ‘fragile’ they are – so there’s no chance of hurting anyone when they get hit. You just get very (very) wet.
The manufacturer recommends this toy from children aged three and above. Well, add 50 to this, as uncle Gary didn’t want to miss out on the fun either!
The children had a lot of fun with this toy. They certainly cooled down on one of the hottest days of the year. The following day I did walk around the garden collecting all the brightly coloured pieces of exploded balloon, as I didn’t want the dogs to eat them – but that’s a small price to pay to see the kids smiling and having fun!
Great fun – Be prepared to be soaked!

You can not beat a good old balloon fight – this has to be the ultimate in summer fun. His face is a classic whilst throwing that balloon!
How fun! My middle son would absolutely love these, in fact I’m sure this is what he’s been asking me for, for a while! Good to see adults can get in on the fun too.
We love a water fight but you’re right it can be time consuming.
I’ve not bought these before as I sort of assumed they wouldn’t work but I’m definitely going to give these a go!
My kids have seen these advertised and keep asking if we can get some. I must admit it does look like a lot of fun.
Mine have seen this on telly too and really want it. I can see how it would provide a lot of fun, especially in the heat!

The children would love this. They love to have water balloon fights when they can. Love that they are so easy to fill. I normally do 1 at a time at the sink.
