Karaoke Boombox by groov-e: Portable Karaoke Machine

Groov-e Portable Karaoke Machine is a must-have for the festivities and New Year’s Eve parties. Aunty Ethel, giving her best rendition of ‘When a Child is Born’ while sipping her umpteenth sherry, dad trying to convince the world that he really could have been one of the Rat Pack, and the kids bopping around to songs you’ve never heard of (not like the ‘proper’ tunes of our youth!) You either love or hate karaoke … As a tone deaf individual myself, I tend to shy away from such activity, but on occasions when I’ve been forced to partake it hasn’t been all that bad really. Even when I’ve sat in sheer fear of being picked, there’s no denying that a karaoke does add a huge amount of fun to any gathering.

We, well moreso my children, were kindly sent a Karaoke Boombox by groov-e to review. They couldn’t wait to get it out of its box and ready to try. The Karaoke Boombox is very portable – lightweight with a handy carry handle. At the front are two easily accessible microphone ports (2 microphones are included in the box). The CD compartment is accessed via the top’s ‘press and pop-up’ lid. Built into the CD lid are flashing LED party light effects to add to the experience. There are dials to control both overall and microphone volume, as well as echo control.

Included with the Groov-e Portable Karaoke Machine is a 10-songs CD+G, with popular tunes that definitely appealed to the children (I knew that one was by One Direction). But what stands the Karaoke Boombox out from other machines is that this one has Bluetooth wireless playback. This means you can connect your phone or tablet to the Boombox via Bluetooth to play all your favourite songs while displaying the lyrics on your mobile device.

Since our review, the children have been using the Groov-e Portable Karaoke Machine frequently. My 10 year old daughter, who is singing a whole-song solo in a concert next week, has been using it to practice on (and I have to say it’s sounding really good!) With an extended family gathering on Boxing Day, and the Karaoke Boombox set up and ready to go in the living room – I think we’ll be raising the roof by the end of the day (apologies in advance to the neighbours!)
