We’ve been playing the UK’s Number 1 card game! Dobble is an award-winning card game that comes in a round tin. It is suitable for ages 6+ and for 2-8 players. Dobble can be played by anyone, regardless of age and interests. This is a perfect travel game that you can take anywhere. The game is also available in a number of different variations, including Dobble Kids, Star Wars Dobble and Disney Princess Dobble!
During the game players compete to find the one matching symbol between two played cards. There are 50 different symbols. Every single one of the 55 cards is unique and has only one of its symbols shared with others in the deck. So it’s quite similar to the principles of the old favourite Snap. However, Dobble is a bit more challenging. Matching cards can be difficult to find because the size and positioning of the symbols vary on each card. If a match is spotted the player must shout it out before the other players and take the card.
It’s a great game. It is simple, easy to transport, so you can play it anywhere. We played it over and over on a recent weekend break. It was an instant hit with Toby who likes games where you have to be quick to recognise symbols. It caused more than one argument with his sister Millie (but this is common anyway!)
Dobble can bridge the generations and anyone can play, young and old. We regularly play it and its nice that it can join the small range of games that we play again and again. It’s not hard but you have to be quick to register the symbols and shout out. I was rubbish!
Formats of Play
There are five different game formats you can play, depending upon how much time you have got etc. They are called Towering Inferno, The Well, Hot Potato, Poisoned Gift, Gotta Catch Them All. It’s good that you can play in different ways as it keeps the interest alive.
We received this game to play as we’re members of the Blogger Board Game Club. The game description and our thoughts about the game are our own and haven’t been influenced in any way.
