The health benefits of seaweed are not lost on the Japanese, or for that matter the Welsh with their penchant for laverbread. However, I think it is safe to say that for the majority of the UK population seaweed isn’t a menu staple. So, a group of food-loving health enthusiasts and cooks began to incorporate the extraordinary benefits of seaweed into their diets. They embarked on a journey of discovery to look at the new superfood that is seaweed. The range was developed by Kate Tullberg with her husband Guy (of Easton Grey-based condiment firm Tracklements) along with her new business partner Tim Buckley. Seaspoon Seaweed began selling seaweed products in July 2018 and has already won the BBC Good Food Show producers bursary.

Award-Winning Seaspoon Seaweed
Seaspoon Seaweed is based near Devizes, Wiltshire, and makes seaweed products full of all its great health and wellbeing benefits into an easy-to-use ingredient. The seaweed is a dried and flaked seaweed sold in pouches and ready to be added to smoothies and other recipes to add flavour and nutrients. Seaspoon made it through a stringent annual tasting session with the BBC Good Food Magazine editorial team in September, to be announced as one of just six bursary winners from across the UK. Seaspoon will have a stand in the Producers’ Village at the BBC Good Food Show Winter, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from 29 November to 2 December.

Oo this sounds so interesting! I’ve never heard of anything like it before 🙂
Nor me, if I’m honest. I love the concept though and it certain adds a new edge to some meals we’ve cooked (and it’s all so healthy too!)
Love reading about new yummy things to try – the packaging looks really swish too!
The packaging artwork is fantastic isn’t it! We spent ages admiring it
I’ve never heard of this before. My husband loves superfoods though in his smoothies so I’m going to let him know!
Well it seems to be packed full of everything good. I’m hoping the iron will give me an energy boost!
This sounds interesting and nutritious stuff! I didn’t even know you could buy seaweed! X
Oh you certainly can! I risk upsetting people now by saying my introduction to eating seaweed was when my husband served me what I affectionately call ‘slop’ … laverbread – and I didn’t like it AT ALL!
We have something similar in our morning smoothies – SO good!! I never used to like the taste, but I don’t even notice it now??! Will definitely check this brand out 🙂 x
I have to say I can’t really taste it in smoothies – maybe it’s because I’m using strong-tasting fruit and berries?
I’ve never heard of these before. They sound really good for you. I will have to give it a try.
I’ve always known that seaweed is really good for you, but didn’t realise you could use it in recipes
What a lovely competition. I love the sound of the product.
Good luck. I hope you’ve entered x
Oo I have never heard of anything like this before and had no idea that seaweed had so many great properties! Will have to keep an eye out for this to pop into smoothies!
It’s fantastic – we have some in a smoothie each day
