Veni, Vidi, Amavi: We Came, We Saw, We Loved
Where will you be this Valentine’s Day? Where have you travelled to and then fallen in love, with the place or a person? In collaboration with travel bloggers, PackThePJs has compiled this A – Z of the most romantic destinations around the world. Today we are focusing on J – L: Jukkasjärvi Ice Hotel in Sweden, Koh Kood in Thailand, Kawachi Gardens in Fukuoka – Japan, and Lake Como in Italy. We hope you enjoy our journey of love!
J: Jukkasjärvi Ice Hotel, Sweden
Jukkasjarvi Ice Hotel in Sweden is undoubtedly one of the most romantic places in the world. The Ice Hotel has rooms which are maintained in -5 degrees throughout the year and guests are given sleeping bags to wrap up in through the night on an ice bed. In the morning, they are woken up with a warm Lingonberry juice.
Apart from the Ice rooms, there is an Ice Bar too where drinks are served in Ice glasses.
In summer, the town of Jukkasjarvi, where the Ice Hotel is located is a pretty sight to see. Colourful flowers bloom all around the town and the River Torne sparkles to the sunlight.
In winter, the temperature in Jukkasjarvi drops to -35 degrees and is often named as one of the best places in the world to see an Aurora! Check out a video of the Ice Hotel here:

K: Koh Kood, Thailand
The quiet island of Koh Kood is one of our favourite romantic places in Thailand. Unlike many of the country’s famed island destinations, it’s free from crowds, relatively undeveloped, and has blissfully little to do. Most visitors enjoy Koh Kood by kayaking up the inland river or along the coastline, or exploring the backroads on a motorbike – both modes of transportation perfectly built for two.
The unspoiled beaches are also perfect for taking romantic walks at sunset, going for a leisurely swim together, or just spending the day in the sun. And while the restaurants on Koh Kood are remarkably low-key, the setting at View Point can’t be beat for a romantic dinner. You’ll dine on Thai specialties with your legs dangling from a boardwalk as the sun goes down over the water. Koh Kood might not be the most popular destination in Thailand, but it’s perfect for couples who want to get away from it all and enjoy some quality time together.

K: Kawachi Gardens, Fukuoka, Japan
One of the most beautiful places in Japan, that also happens to be the most romantic, is without a doubt Kawachi-Fuji-en, also known as Kawachi Wisteria Garden in Fukuoka, Japan.
The most prominent and breathtaking features of the garden are the two 100m wisteria tunnels: they appear straight out of a fairy tale movie. The gardens feature approximately 150 plants across 20 different species. They come in a range of colours from white to pink to purple, with the tunnels the crown jewel.
April to mid-May is peak season when the flowers are at full blooms and also the busiest, but is the best season to attend. It is recommended to purchase a ticket online in advance (for a fee of ¥500). Otherwise a ticket at the entrance on the day will cost approximately ¥1500. You are required to enter within a certain time frame.
You can stroll for hours, have a picnic under a roof of drooping flowers and take the perfect photos that would make anyone jealous.

L: Lake Como, Italy
Situated in the charming Lake District of Northern Italy, Lake Como will surely captivate your heart. The stunning landscape of the Alps with its snow-capped grey mountains and lush greenery. The beauty of Lake Como starts at the heart of Como town. Here you can relax and enjoy the scenery and various activities around the area and the lake. When we went to visit Lake Como we stayed in a small romantic town called Bellagio located at the end of the peninsula where Lake Como and Lecco meet.
The breath taking beauty of Bellagio overlooks the lake and it will definitely melt your heart. There is no surprise why Bellagio is popular with the Royalties and other dignitaries. It is also a famous filming location of different Hollywood films, such as Ocean’s Eleven and Star Wars.
