Today we conclude our series with the letters Y and Z: York, UK; Zugspitze, Germany/Austria; and Zigong, Sichaun, China. We hope you enjoy our journey of love!
Y: York, UK
When you visit York, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Just take a walk down the Shambles. The city has so much charm. Check out the chocolate shops that York is known for. If you want to learn more about the history of chocolate in York, you can visit the York Chocolate Story.
On a nice day, walk hand in hand on the city walls. If you prefer you can also do a cruise on the River Ouse. They offer both day and evening cruises. You should also plan to do afternoon tea at Betty’s, which is known as the home of Afternoon Tea. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. Of course, you should also visit York Minster, York’s most famous attraction. It’s a beautiful cathedral that is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. Take the tower tour to go to the top and take in the views of this pretty little city.

Z: Zugspitze, Germany/Austria
Let your love reach new heights as you stand almost 3000 metres atop Germany’s highest peak at the summit of Zugspitze. Just a short journey (55 miles) from Munich by train, Zugspitze offers impressive 360° panoramic views, overlooking 400 alpine peaks spanning four countries.
Reaching the top of Germany is easy and fuss-free. With three exciting modes of transport including a train, a cogwheel train and a cable car, the snow-covered peak is easily accessible to families, wheelchair users and senior citizens.

Whether you spend a day or three in Bavarian Germany, you can be certain that the views will leave you breathless.

Z: Zigong, Sichaun, China
In the South of Sichuan, China, is a town called Zigong. While popular for its dinosaurs and its old salt well, when the Chinese New Year comes, the city starts to shine at night and turns into a very romantic venue. The Lantern Festival takes place each year around the month of February. Scenery made of lights and fabric come and cover the streets. The lakes suddenly boast small islands where short-lived flowers and trees appear. They shine through the night with gorgeous greens, reds and pinks above the placid waters.
Bridges host traditional lanterns filled with riddles and proverbs, only waiting to be grabbed by passer bys. What could be more romantic than a visit to the lantern festival in Zigong? Grab a train from Chengdu. where you might be able to see the pandas, and spend the night with your loved one in the middle of thousands of lanterns.
