Flying is exciting for most people, but it’s also tiring when you’re having to travel on long haul flights. Airplanes are now designed with maximum entertainment in mind, especially for those longer flights. Usually they have a TV or a screen of sorts on the back of the chair in front of you. You can watch a range of films and TV shows while you fly.
Not only does this help to pass the time, but if you are measuring time in movie segments, you could probably watch 2 to 3 movies per flight, depending on how long you’re flying for. However, it’s not for everybody to sit there staring at the screen the whole time. Some people like to play solitaire and some people like to just pass the time by staring out the window. Here are some of the ways that you could pass the time on your next long haul flight.
Bring your own entertainment in the form of a book or five
Some people like to read on long haul flights. Reading is your own entertainment. Alongside games such as Solitaire, you can bring as many reading books as you can fit in your carry-on that meet the weight. It’s much easier if you load all your favorite books onto a Kindle, however. Then you only have to carry one thing and you don’t have to worry about its weight.
Use the time to prepare
Are you planning on visiting the sites at the city or the town that you’re planning on going to? Are you booking your tickets, or are you planning to just drop in when you get there? Doing some reading up on some travel books can help you to plan your adventure a little more. You can also search for some interesting activities to do at your destination, because some flights do have in-flight Wi-Fi which allow you to browse while you fly.
Sleep
If you’re switching time zones, you can organize yourself to sleep during your long haul flight. This means when you land you are fresh as a Daisy to get on with your trip. Falling asleep on a plane is not the easiest thing to do, especially if you’re stuck with the aisle seat where people will be climbing over you all the time. Local flights do offer you the chance to catch up as a rest, however, and you can pay a little more to either be in extra legroom, seats, or in business class. When you do this, you don’t have to feel cramped the entire flight and you’ll be able to stretch out and sleep as much as you want.
Stare out of the window
It may sound like a boring thing to do but if you are flying over exciting places and not just the ocean or up above the clouds you might be able to spot some things. For example, flying over Africa might put you in a position to spot Kilimanjaro which means you’re going to be able to spot something unique and majestic.
