We love making homemade burgers. Yet for some unknown reason we’ve always resorted to ready-made ones for our campsite BBQs. On a recent weekend visit to our caravan in Hemsby, Norfolk, the children made the burgers from scratch! In total honesty, I don’t think we’ll ever buy a pre-made burger again. This is how it went …
Burger Ingredients
- Lean minced beef and pork (you don’t need the pork mince, but it’s what we had available)
- Aromat All-Purpose Seasoning
- Mixed Herbs
- Salt and Pepper
(Note: no egg, no breadcrumb, no onion)
Method
Children wash hands!
Put the mince into a large bowl, add a good few pinches of Aromat, herbs and a few shakes of salt and pepper. Then roll up sleeves and mix all together.
Take a patty-sized ball of burger mix from the bowl and squidge into the base of a Flying Tiger Burger Press.
Tamp down the top to flatten the burger and remove any mixture that has over spilled the mould.
Hold the burger press base over a hot grill or pan, turn and with one quick shake it will fall out the mould.
Pick a responsible child (or adult) to take charge of burger flipping.
Get some plates, rolls, sliced cheese, salad leaves, and sauces ready
When cooked, let the children assemble their own burgers.
Take photos for Instagram 🙂
Enjoy!
What really impressed me was the enthusiasm shown by the children to ‘make their own dinner’. It was so simple and quick. And of course we knew what ingredients went into our handmade burgers – pretty much 100% pure beef and pork. And they were lovely 🙂
The burger press looks a rather insignificant gadget, but the results are amazing. Especially given that the RRP is a teeny £3.00. We made 9 large burgers and none of them stuck to the mould – a quick shake and they fall out, keeping their shape perfectly. We will definitely use it over and over and over again this summer while we BBQ at the caravan. A simple gadget but brilliantly effective, and small enough to store anywhere.
The burger press can be purchased in any Flying Tiger Copenhagen store that are dotted all over the UK. To find your nearest store please click here. It’s only £3.00 … What a bargain!

We received the Flying Tiger burger press in return for an honest review. This review is honest – and the burgers were particularly tasty x
