We all know Hotel Chocolat, yes? The company who turned the British chocolate industry upside down by growing their own cocoa in their Rabot Estate in Saint Lucia? Well, did you also know that they also have a beauty range called Rabot 1745? We were given the opportunity to try out two of their body scrubs, and of course we said yes!
The Rabot Estate
Saint Lucia has seen a steep decline in cocoa production due to expanding banana plantations and increased tourism. The 140-acres Rabot Estate was in a distressed state when Angus and Peter took it on, in 2006, turning into the cocoa paradise that it’s become. Hotel Chocolat brings ethically produced, high quality chocolate to a mass market. Their beauty business, Rabot 1745, is inspired by the people and the plants that flourish in Saint Lucia.
Body Scrubs
The first thing you notice about the body scrubs is that they are contained within a reusable cup. Once you’ve used all the product, take the cup into any Hotel Chocolat café to get 50p off any hot drink; or take it along to the Rabot 1745 café in Borough Market, London, where you’ll get a hot drink completely free of charge! Great idea!
The mug, by the way, is crafted from bamboo, corn fibre and wood fibre and is 75% biodegradable.
Coffee Body Scrub 280ml
When you peel the lid off the container, the smell of coffee hits you. It’s lovely! For that reason, I decided that I’d use it every morning in my ‘wake up’ shower! Within the really creamy cocoa butter, almond oil and argan oil are coffee grounds from the Rabot 1745 arabica house blend along with salt.
You apply it, in a circular motion, and it leaves the skin feeling so smooth and refreshed.
It honestly is the perfect kick-start to the day.
Salt and Lemongrass Body Scrub 280ml
A beautiful citrus smell hits you when you remove the lid. It’s very invigorating, but I enjoyed using it each evening as a start to winding down after a long busy day. The salt within the product is quite sharp. However, when combined with citrus-fresh lemongrass oil, nourishing sweet almond oil, replenishing cocoa seed butter and shea butter, it feels like it’s doing you lots of good!
It really does leave your skin feeling rejuvenated. And, smelling lovely!
