Royal Caribbean’s Adventure Ocean program caters for all age groups with a huge number of events on each cruise for tots to teens. Sometimes the tiniest cruisers are the most difficult to entertain and parents worry about babies and toddlers being bored and frantic. RCI provides a wonderful safe environment on all of its ships. Litte ones can explore and learn with experienced professionals, while parents can watch or even get involved and help their little ones learn and build their skills.
On Ovation of the Seas, both Royal Babies (6-18 months) and Royal Tots (18-36 months) interactive playgroup sessions include a range of music, toys and learning activities, developed by early childhood experts at Fisher-Price. Divided up into 45-minute sessions, this range of activities makes playtime into learning time as well. With babies this young a parent or carer is expected to accompany the children throughout the session. However this can be shared within family groups to provide an added cruise distraction.

As this is a cruise for all family members, and mum deserves a bit of time to herself as well there is a paid nursery. For a small hourly fee the Royal Babies & Tots Nursery can care for the smallest cruise guests (aged 6-36 months) using specially trained professionals and purpose designed activity programs. Both daytime and evening drop-off is allowed with an hourly fee of $6 in the daytime and $8 during the evening. Booking is available on board. The places fill up quickly and so to ensure you get your times book as early as you can. The nursery care program does vary slightly from ship to ship and so it pays to check your requirements can be accommodated.
Activities for Royal Babies, and their grown up, can include such fun things like a Stroller Mates Workout around the jogging track, a musical rhythm, movement and creativity session, baby gymnastics using Fisher-Price Go-Baby-Go! toys, early learning sessions where they discover and explore colours, letters, numbers and shapes, role playing in the kitchen area, and fun animal discovery.

Royal Tots, aged 18-36 months, can take part in activities that include a Crayola Beginnings Workshop, exploring farm life with Little People, learning about places and people, and lots of pirate and princess related events! Alongside all this there is singing, dancing, games and learning through play.
Royal Washrooms!
There was one feature that really caught my eye in the Royal Babies and Royal Tots area – and that was the teeny tiny washroom! Remembering back to when my children were being toilet-trained, they had this fear of the scary big toilet that needed steps and padded seats added each time it was used. Yet on Ovation of the Seas, there was a miniature washroom … a ‘Liliput’ one with a tiny, low down sink and replica tiny toilet! Little touches like this make a huge difference to a child’s confidence and I reckon they’d happily give up diapers to use it!
