Carnival Vista has some wonderful events for children that are linked to Camp Ocean’s collaboration with Dr Seuss. A very special event is the once-weekly ‘Dr Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast’, where kids can meet their favourite Dr Seuss characters and take part in some party fun while enjoying a delicious themed breakfast. The event we visited on Carnival Vista took part in the Reflections restaurant from 9-10am.
The attention to detail was truly phenomenal with waiters in colourful uniform, colourful themed table dressings, balloons and gifts, characters such as Things 1 and 2 and the Cat in the Hat himself, a magnificent ice sculpture of the Cat in the Hat and wonderful food.
Every child had a photo opportunity with a Dr Seuss character. Parents were welcome too and the breakfast consisted of scrumptious ‘goose juice’ and ‘moose juice’ as well as pancakes, French toast, fruit and the ubiquitous ‘green eggs and ham’. For the final course there were fantastic chocolate brownies.
At least twice during the session there was a parade of the characters around this segregated area of the restaurant and every child was involved in the fun.
The staff was brilliant with every child the centre of attention. This is well worth attending for every child into Dr Seuss books (that’s all children, right?) and even as a bit of nostalgia for the adult Dr Seuss fan. The event costs $5 per adult or child and everyone can expect an exquisite breakfast (there are more traditional items for the adults) along with loads of Dr Seuss fun with Things 1 and 2, Cat in the Hat and Sam-I-Am.
Most definitely a cruise highlight (and I’m 43!) x
