Being in lockdown is quite stressful. Of course, there are some good things about it. For one it makes you slow down and gives you a chance to reconnect with each other. But, for many people, it means not being able to see friends and other relatives. Plus, possibly, having to cope with less money. All of which is difficult.
So, it might seem odd that I am talking about how to quit smoking during the lockdown. But, for some, it is the best time to try again. Many people have tried and failed to give up because when they have been out socialising, they have given in to temptation and started smoking again. So, for many people, now is actually the ideal time to quit. Here are a few approaches you could try.

Switch from smoking to vaping
A recent study carried out by Harvard Health shows that for many, vaping is a more effective way to quit than most nicotine replacement therapies. It is not expensive to try. Even the best quality vape pens do not cost much.
There are lots of suppliers out there. But be sure to choose one that has been in business for a few years and receives good reviews. That is the best way to avoid buying something sub-standard. When you are giving up smoking, the last thing you need is for your new vape pen to stop working two weeks in. If that happens the chances are you will immediately reach for a cigarette.
Try the nicotine replacement approach
If you do not fancy vaping, try one of the nicotine replacement methods. There are several available, so if one does not work you can always try another. This guide explains all of the options. Reading it will help you to quickly decide which approach is likely to work best for you.
Again, you can buy most of these products online. Or, failing that, from your local chemist. When choosing which to try to bear in mind the cost. None of them are as expensive as continuing to smoke. But if you are on a reduced wage, or worse, have lost your job the cost is an important consideration.
Sometimes you can save a lot by buying in bulk. But, again, be careful. You don’t want to have paid for a 3-month supply of nicotine patches if it turns out that they don’t really work for you. Initially, just purchase enough for a few days or maybe a week. Later when you are sure they are the right option; you can buy in larger multiples.
Learn to relax in new ways
Most people who smoke find that doing so helps them to manage their stress levels. So, it is a good idea to find a different way of doing that. There are plenty of options, including some that are free. Focus on those first. For example, learn to meditate.
Having given up smoking myself, I can tell you that it is not easy to do so. But, once you have, you end up feeling glad that you did. Your health improves, so do your family finances. Both of which, in the current climate, are especially important.
