Varta Power Banks: The Best Way to Stay in Charge!

Technical

The power bank is about the size of a paperback book 13.2 x 16.8 x 1.5 cm and weighs about 667 g.  With a rugged brushed aluminium housing it is also equipped with two 9000 mAh Lithium Polymer batteries (combined 18000 mAh). This makes it ideal as an additional external battery for mobile devices. The power bank delivers a fast charging speed via 2 Out ports simultaneously. The charge is provided at 5V/3.0A via a USB Type C out port and 5V/2.4A via a USB A out port and has been optimised to charge two mobile devices simultaneously and more than once. Four integrated blue LED lights on the corner of the battery pack indicate the remaining charge capacity.

USB Type C Port

The new USB C type connector is set to become the new standard for mobile devices. The Varta is thus future proof having the advantage to speed charge mobile devices at 5V/3.0A. The USB Type C Port features reversible plug orientation and cable direction plus it is compatible to other USB or Lightning connectors using converter cables or adaptors. ‘My Power Bank’

Varta has also produced power bank devices for ‘mobile children‘ (most of them these days!) This is a much smaller 6000 mAh device: however it is perfectly capable of charging a phone or tablet for 1 to 2 charges. More importantly, the battery comes with the ability to customise it with a design and colour limited only by their imagination. The 6000 mAh battery pack comes with a white 50cm Micro USB charging cable for ease of use. There are also three stencils with outlines like unicorns, hearts, letters and snowflakes.

There is also a black permanent marker pen. The idea is that the children can design and put their name on their own power bank. Our two (age nine and eleven) did an excellent job but they used a range of coloured Sharpie markers to achieve quite attractive designs. It is best to adopt a ‘less is more’ approach in this instance – otherwise you will just end up with a mess. They should think about their design for a while and then stencil and colour it in carefully. They turn out well if good quality markers are used. And they each have their own battery back-up source for our long road trips and weekends camping. A useful, essential, gadget for most children these days.
