Do it yourself? Hm. It is easier said than done. For some people, DIY is enjoyable and fun. But, for others, it’s a different story. Not everyone has a natural flair for home décor and repair.
However, if you’re not naturally inclined towards DIY, you’ll still need to do it every now and then. You can save a lot of money and stress by learning how to do basic household tasks. Here are some hacks for people who aren’t good at DIY.

Easy install lightbulbs
How many people who aren’t good at DIY does it take to change a lightbulb? A lot, probably. But, it doesn’t need to, especially if you have GU10 LED bulbs. Why use a GU10 LED bulb? They are equipped with a retrofit design which means that no complicated installation is needed. Just plug in and switch on. Easy peasy, even for a DIY novice. Don’t stress yourself out with fiddly lights.
Floorboards, not carpets
If you don’t want to spend your life trying to scrub stains out of a carpet, you’re much better off putting floorboards or laminate flooring into your home. Carpets simply don’t stay clean for very long, even if you’re careful about spilling. So, if you want to avoid doing DIY for the foreseeable, pull out the carpet and invest in some swanky floorboards.
Sticky tabs
If you aren’t great at hammering nails or drilling holes, have no fear! You can still have beautiful walls with pictures and mirrors. All you need is some sticky tabs. Simply stick them in place and attach your frame or mirror. These are great if you’re living in a rented property and aren’t allowed to make significant changes, too.
Flat pack furniture
For a DIY pro, flat pack furniture doesn’t really count. If you’re averse to building your own shelves, invest in some flat pack furniture where most of the work is already done for you. All you have to do is assemble! You’ll be provided with straight forward instructions. If you pay attention, you’ll be able to get the job done. You can see this as a DIY victory, even if you just screwed in a few nails.
Vinegar
If you’re averse to buying chemicals, vinegar is a great natural cleanser. Sure, it doesn’t smell great, but vinegar can be used to clean carpets, bathroom mould and soap scum. Vinegar creates a hostile environment for many microorganisms, making it a powerful disinfectant. So, head to the chippy and arm yourself with vinegar on your way out (just kidding, white distilled vinegar is best in this instance).
Masking tape
If you’re about to start your first wall-painting venture, look no further than trusty masking tape. Simply stick this along the skirting boards and ceiling to ensure that no paint goes where it shouldn’t. Once you’ve completed your task, peel the tape away for a sparkling finish and perfectly coloured walls. Your new room will be absolutely spotless.
