Christmas gets less and less exciting as you get older, which is why if you’ve got kids, you should do your best to make it as exciting for them as you possibly can. They won’t always struggle to sleep, want to watch Christmas film after Christmas film, and believe in Santa and other magical things.
So, how can you make this Christmas the most exciting one yet? Below we have some ideas you can use!
Build Momentum Up To The Big Day
The build up to the big day is often just as exciting as Christmas day itself. So, make this build up awesome by planning great Christmas activities that you can enjoy with your family. You could set aside a pyjama day to watch Christmas films, bake Christmas treats on another day, go to see Santa at a grotto on another day … there are plenty of things you can do. Arts and crafts, days out, reading books and watching films – just have fun in the month leading up to Christmas!

Give Christmas Eve Boxes
Christmas Eve boxes are a lovely start to Christmas day. Inside you can put anything you deem appropriate, from a pair of Christmas pyjamas to some hot chocolate and a Christmas film. Just make sure you give them early on in the day, as your kids may get too excited if you give them before bed time. It’s always a good idea to start winding down early on Christmas Eve.
Start New Christmas Traditions
One of the best things about having a family is that you are able to start new Christmas traditions. What will your Christmas traditions be? You could all get Ugly Christmas Sweaters to wear on the day, for example. You could do Elf on the Shelf in the lead up to Christmas – although it’s important to be aware that this is a big commitment as you have to think of something new and exciting every day for a whole month! Then there are the tried and tested traditions, like leaving a mince pie out for Santa and putting small gifts in a stocking.

Vow To Only Give Thoughtful Gifts
This year, vow to only give thoughtful gifts to the people you are buying for. Anybody can buy a gift card, but it isn’t thoughtful. If you can’t think of anything, you could always make a donation in their name to a charity of their choice.
Set Boundaries With Your Family
If you have kids, everybody will want to see you. Leave plenty of time for your kids to enjoy Christmas the way you want to enjoy it. If that means seeing family on Boxing Day, then so be it! It should be a relaxed and fun day with no stress.
Make A Fun Christmas Playlist
Finally, make a fun Christmas playlist that you can listen to together in the run up to Christmas and on the day. Give the whole family a say in what goes on there. You can have Christmas songs from favorite films, old classics, new songs – just about anything that gets you in that festive spirit.
Have an incredible holiday season!
