Where will you be this Valentine’s Day? Where have you travelled to and then fallen in love, with the place or a person? In collaboration with travel bloggers, PackThePJs has compiled this A – Z of the most romantic destinations around the world. Today we are focusing on P – R: Parque del Amor, Lima, Peru; Queenstown Remarkables Mountain Range, New Zealand; and Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument, Gudauri, Georgia. P: Parque del Amor, Lima, Peru

Lima is a romantic city as it is, being the only capital on the Pacific Ocean. The views down the cliffs to the water and around the city are amazing. Parque Del Amor in Lima is a romantic spot just in its name itself, aka, “Park of Love. This little park, right along the promenade in Lima, has this name due to it being a very romantic spot where you can always find couples laying in the grass or on the benches.

The park is very colourful and Barcelona-esque with its tiled murals. There is also a statue right in the middle of the park of a couple making out! This spot is a stunning place to watch the sunset as well, making it even more romantic.

Q: Queenstown Remarkables Mountain Range, New Zealand

Located on New Zealand’s South Island, the Remarkable mountain range is probably the most aptly named mountain range in the world. When you disembark the airplane you immediately see how remarkable these mountains really are.

Being in the adventure capital of the world, folks can head to the Remarkables for skiing, mountain biking, or hiking. But often overlooked is the romantic scenery you can soak in from the lookouts. Right from Queenstown, just past the airport, is our favourite spot to venture up in the mountain range.

Don’t worry about roughing it to get there: you’ll find well laid out paths, paved roads, and loads of secluded, gorgeous views to soak in with your loved one. You’ll see the sun setting behind a smaller mountain range to the west and the vastness of the valley in between. If you enjoy a little privacy with your romance, you’ll find the Remarkables mountain range exactly what Dr. Love ordered.

R: Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument, Gudauri, Georgia

My husband and I found Georgia to be quite the romantic destination – from wine-tasting in Kakheti, church-hopping in Signaghi to sightseeing in Gudauri and Gergeti. It was definitely an ideal location for a sweet escape.
We loved everything that the European country offered. But if I were to choose the best and most notable areas, these would be Georgia’s gorgeous landscapes and historical edifices.

I specifically enjoyed the scenic view of the snowcapped mountains, and the Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument (also known as the Treaty of Georgievsk Monument). The stone and concrete structure, which was constructed in 1983, was built to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Treaty of Georgievsk. It was also created to honour the ongoing friendship between Georgia and Soviet Russia.

Now, it wasn’t just the large tile mural that showed scenes from Georgian and Russian history that had us mesmerised. It was also being up there with each other, whilst admiring the beautiful view of the Caucasus Mountains on sight, that made our journey all the more magical. It was definitely one of the coolest and loveliest viewing platforms that we’ve ever been to.
